A PRAYER THAT YOU PROSPER BY LIESL MARE

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:2-4 (NKJV) I don’t know about you but for a long time I couldn’t fathom that it was Gods will for me to prosper! I was frugal and hardworking and believed I needed to earn everything from Him. With the passing of time and a deepening relationship with Him, I have discovered that He truly does want me to prosper! As I have grown closer to Him and experienced more healing (with trust and submission to Him) my soul has prospered. All things started to prosper as my soul prospered. At the beginning of this journey of wholeness was the wholeness of my heart! I believe we have missed God’s heart behind prosperity with the endless bombardment of the ‘prosperity gospel’ message. Prosperity is so much more than the accumulation of earthly possessions! On the contrary if earthly possessions are the sum total of our understanding of prosperity, then may I dare say that we are deceived? Material prosperity is a part of it but not its totality. In 1 Tim 6 v 5- 6 Paul says ‘Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain’ ( KJV) I believe that godliness is a fruit of the prosperity of our souls! As we draw closer to Him, we surrender more and more and godliness begins to follow us as a pattern, not just an exception. As 1Tim 6 v 5 states gain or material possessions is not an indicator of our godliness, the fruit of the Spirit is. Salvation means, the health, deliverance and safety of the soul! My rebirth was the day that I surrendered my whole being to God, accepting Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and receiving a regenerated spirit by faith. That is the day that Jesus truly became the One I surrendered to. However as I started along this Christian journey I realised I still gravitated towards sin and selfishness, my being leaned towards independence from God – wanting to do things in my own strength. My salvation process was only beginning, and its continuing process for me is the process where God prospers my soul. Which in turn prospers my life! It’s where godliness (becoming more like Him and contentment of where I am in the process) is great gain. It is a place of rest and faith in God – trusting Him with my everything! Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24(NKJV) God wants us to walk in truth, to sanctify us and make us whole. He wants us to be a people that reflect His image of wholeness to a fractured, broken world. He who calls us to this walk of wholeness and prosperity is faithful and He can do it. Wholeness does not mean perfection! It is a journey of dependence upon God. As He makes us whole, we prosper. Allow Him to make you whole today. A prayer for wholeness: Father I bring my brokenness before you Lord. You know I am inadequate, but Lord today I declare my absolute dependence on You. Come and make me whole Lord, body, soul and spirit, so that I can prosper in You. Thank you for the cross and that Jesus paid the price for us to become whole and to preserve us to be blameless until His return. Amen Read Liesl Mare' bio here
