Our decisions determine our destinies. Have you ever needed to make an important decision in your life, career or in your business?

As we journey through life, we often come to crossroads, and we could make the right choice or the wrong one. We could choose God’s will or our own!

In Jeremiah 29:11 we read: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “

This scripture gives us hope that God has a good future planned for us and that He has many plans to get us to our purpose and our destiny. But do we have a good understanding of the concept of destiny?

Destiny and destination are related concepts. A destination is the final place where we will arrive, and destiny means something predestined. It speaks of God’s plan unfolding in our lives as we follow Him.

We all work and strive to reach our dreams and to accomplish our goals, thinking that it will lead us to our destiny.

“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”

Romans 8:29-30 (NIV)

“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,”

Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)

Our destiny is to be followers of Jesus. In these scriptures we read that we are chosen; we are called and destined to do good works!

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

God’s plan is unfolding in our lives, day by day, as we follow Him. Every day counts – whether it is good or bad, it is all part of our destiny. The choices we make, right or wrong, affect our ability to see God’s plan unfold, so what we decide and what we do is important to walking in our destiny.

“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.”

Proverbs 2:9 (NIV)

Choices bring consequences, but God is a God of grace, a God of mercy and a God of love.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3: 22-23 (NIV)

As we journey through life, choosing to do the right thing isn’t always easy, but it is so worth it. God’s grace is always sufficient.

Do you want to make good choices from now on?

We all face temptations. We will be tempted to make a bad choice. Temptation is a given. We can expect to be tempted and we need to be prepared for it.

Prepare to make good choices in the future. Praying, fasting, and spending time in God’s word, will fill us with wisdom and power so that we are prepared to make the right choice when we are faced with a difficult situation.

Surround yourself with a community who is striving to make Godly choices. Many people we encounter, in life and in business, don’t share our values. Making the right choice is easier when we are in a community of other believers. Surround yourself with a community who puts God first in their lives.

As we journey through life, we will make the wrong choices, and we will make mistakes. Regardless of our circumstances, the challenges we are facing, and the choices we make, we are wrapped in God’s love. His love is a powerful force. It gives us courage when we are afraid, hope when we feel helpless, and strength when we are weary.

If we are anchored in Jesus Christ and in His love, our circumstances don’t necessarily change, but there is a change in our characters, attitudes, and actions.

As we journey through life, we can make choices every day that move us closer to our God-ordained destiny, or away from it. Whatever decisions you’re facing today, He is with you in them, and He is guiding you into the purpose He has set before you. No matter where you are at in your journey or what crossroads you recognise in front of you, keep moving forward and pressing into Him!

Our lives are the result of choices - our choices. Others can influence or hinder us, but our choices are the determining factor of our destinies. It is never too late to make the right choices!

Our destiny is not only in the future, but also in the now. Destiny is in the present as well as in the future.

Our journey is just as important as our destination. It is all part of our destiny. Let’s make our lives count!

I want to remind you that YOU are a child of the King of Kings and the Lord of Heaven.

You have been called according to His word.

He will never let anything stand in the way of His purpose and His destiny for you!
