Name of Book:

Wild about you

Author:

John & Stasi Eldredge

What drew you to read this book?:

M: I've read both "Wild at heart" and "Captivating" and was interested to see what the couples devotion was all about. Y: I read "Captivating" years ago and really enjoyed it. I've heard about "Wild at heart" so was equally eager to experience this couple's latest offering.

What impact did this book have on your life?:

M: It's possible that my expectations were a bit too high for this book, being a fan of "Wild at heart". For me it didn't have the impact I had hoped for. Y: I enjoyed the reminders of what I've read even before marriage, but it didn't have the impact marriage-wise that it promises.

In a paragraph, what is the main point of this book?:

M&Y: They set out to create a 60-day devotional for married couples, based on their books about masculinity and femininity. For every day of the 60 days, there's an "About Her" and "About Him" devotional, headed with a scripture and followed by an extract on the feminine and masculine heart, as well as how God created us. Each day ends with a prayer as well as questions for reflection. It's a great sentiment, but unfortunately it doesn't come out well in the execution. The content, whilst good in itself, when combined in this form, is confusing to navigate. There's hardly anything about relationship in this book, as it seems to focus only on the two individuals. Although two whole individuals are important to a marriage, this is not a marriage devotional.

Who would benefit from reading this book?:

M&Y: Anyone who hasn't worked through "Captivating" and "Wild at heart" would benefit from this book. However, we recommend the original books for a fuller picture, whether happily single, seeking marriage or married.
