A Book Review on When Women Pray by T. D. Jakes

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

Women of Reverence would like to thank Lusanda Dhlamini for her Book Review.

Find power in your prayer like never before with this inspiring guide from #1 New York Times bestselling author Bishop T.D. Jakes.

In a time when women carry more influence than any other generation, the power of prayer has never been more important to remind us that we do not have to bear our crosses alone. We need prayer to stand guard over our hearts and minds and over the hearts and minds of our families.

Women today are shattering glass ceilings and forging new paths in the world. What Happens When a Woman Prays is a clarion call for women to continue their progressive march of empowerment by dreaming like their daughters and praying like their grandmothers.

Through exploring the lives of 10 prayer-filled women of the Bible, Bishop Jakes emphasizes the life-changing power that women have when they find their identity, their strength, their healing, and their voices in Christ.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

I am a wife, mom to four gorgeous girls and a grandmother to one. I am the Founder of Women of Reverence and together with my husband lead Gateway City Church, in Alexandra Township. I enjoy reading, travelling, watching movies, shopping (which woman does not!) and a GREAT cup of COFFEE.

What drew you to read this book:

The title of the book gives you the impression that there is something different about a woman's prayer!

What impact did this book have:

It has re-ignited a fire in me to PRAY at all times. The book has reminded me that PRAYER shifts things.

In a paragraph, what is the main point:

The author picked a few women in the Bible who PRAYED their way through some difficult seasons in the lives. It encourages women to not give up on PRAYER as this is important for our constant communication with our God. It teaches the reader the importance of PRAYER in one's life. We learn about women who changed the world, cultures, laws, lives etc. through prayer. It confirms that prayer is the FOUNDATION of our walk with Jesus.

Who would benefit from reading:

Women who are feeling discouraged. Women who believe are called to intercession ministry. Women in general, old and young! Buy it as a gift for non-believers! Buy it for men too - will be encouraged and appreciate praying women in their lives.
