Part 1:  the least of these

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

Ruth 1:16 NIV

Naomi loved and served God.  She was devoted to Him, even while in Moab.  So much so that her Moabite daughter-in-law, Ruth, would have seen her devotion for and worship to God.  This was so heartfelt that Ruth chose to leave her family, her life and everything she knew to follow Naomi and led to her conversion moment, "your people will be my people and your God my God."

Cailin Leacock asks us the questions:

Do you think that your life, your actions and your personal devotion to God speak of His love and nature?

Do you think others would want to follow God bases on your example?

Part 2:  God's providence and election

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28 NIV

Providence = Foreseeing care and guidance of God.

Life doesn't always go as planned but the Word promises us that God weaves good from all the circumstances and situations we may find ourselves facing.  For Naomi and Ruth, through the terrible circumstances of both of their husband's deaths and being destitute, God brings about Ruth's salvation and leads them back to the promised land.

Election = choosing of a person by office or vote.

God chooses the most unlikely of people.  He chooses you!

God chooses men and women that don't necessarily fit the "job description" or mould.  Keep going forward, you are valuable to God and He want to use your life.

Cailin asks us in her book to ponder this thought:  What are some of the characteristics or attributes you think God looks for?
