Life is not always perfect.

Life is full of ups and downs.

We are all faced with moments in our lives that challenge us, that leave us frustrated, scared and broken - they can not be avoided. In the midst of the struggle, we can easily become consumed by those things that take our attention away from God. We can easily lose faith in God. Putting God first in all circumstances, is sometimes easier said than done!

I went through many challenges in my life – personally, as well as in business. I always had a serving heart and while serving others, I got caught up in the busyness of life. In the process, I neglected my marriage, my family, my home and my business.

I have experienced feelings of anxiety, fear, worry, anger, stress, and every negative emotion that you can think of. These feelings paralysed me from dealing with my challenges correctly and I made mistakes. I remember some nights as my head hit the pillow, I wondered how I got there — the chaos, the mess, the feeling of failing – and I would lie there, strategizing how to make the next day better. Strategizing how to keep my family happy. Strategizing how to keep my business going through that difficult time. In my head, I tried to justify that it was just a season and it would pass.

Most of all, I neglected my relationship with God.

Today I know that perhaps feeling tired, overwhelmed, and empty wasn’t such a bad thing. It brought me to my knees.

I realised that my planning, strategizing, intelligence and coping mechanisms meant absolutely nothing.

I realised that I had to stop.

I realised that I had to reach out to God and call on His name.

“Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth.”

Psalm 46:10 (TPT)

I realised that with God, your challenge can become your breakthrough.

I realised that with God, your loss can become your recovery.

I realised that our reaction to our challenges can become our successes.

I realised it is all about Him, and way less of us.

He must become greater; I must become less.”

John 3:30 (NIV)

It’s not easy to go through difficult times, but it is important not to let the challenges that you are facing tear you away from your faith. These are the moments where we need our faith the most. We have to feel and understand God’s love for us; no matter how big the challenge is in front of us, we have to focus on God’s power. These are the moments where we surrender and trust God! Pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you through the challenging times. Ask God for wisdom and discernment to make the best decisions possible. Wait for the Lord. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14 (NIV) We have to believe that God is in control and that He has a great plan for us, even if it may seem confusing at times. We have to trust that God cares about our businesses and our careers, that if it is what He called us to do, that He will take care of our needs. He knows every detail and has our best interests at heart. God is right beside you, walking you through each step. With Him, we have confidence to face every challenge and come out victorious. God wants us to be successful and triumphant. All we have to do is put our trust in Him. “My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested, it stirs up power within you to endure all things. And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking." James 1: 2-4 (TPT) Today I know that in the difficulties and the challenges I am experiencing, understanding my own brokenness in Jesus Christ, and resting in His power, is more peaceful, more refreshing and more impactful than a thousand chaos-free days. He is my rest. He is my peace within the chaos, hardships and challenges. He is the means and the end. He is my Creator, the Author of my day and my life. He is my joy. In Him I trust!

Blessings
