Women of Reverence welcomes Ntombi Thamba as a guest blogger.

Ntombi is a member of Gateway City Church; I serve as a deacon and worship director. I work at Alexandra Community Health Center as a Counsellor.

I have an Honours in Theology, a Diploma in Spiritual Counselling and I am part of Rested Girls' Foundation. I am an ambassador and a minister of the Gospel. I'm a Christian and proud single mother of a 17-year-old girl, Mbalenhle, who's doing Grade 12 this year.

I have been abstaining from sex for almost 10 years now, since 2011, after I broke up with a man I thought I was going to get married to. It hasn't been an easy journey for me but I thank God for the strength and wisdom that He gave me and the people I walk with in my life.

It all started with a conversation with a friend, Mrs Sethoga. At that time, I was heartbroken, stressed and angry with myself. She supported me along the way, encouraged me with the word of God and inspired me to be who I am today. She got married a virgin at the age of 31. I was one of her bridesmaids - what a beautiful wedding it was! I decided to keep myself pure and I am still pursuing my career as a Chaplain. I started focusing on God and living according to His standards.

1 Corinthians 7 verse 2: "But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband." In this verse, the apostle Paul describes any activity outside of marriage as "sexual immorality." It includes sex before marriage as one of many examples of sin. Sexual sin affects our body, mind and spirit, and it offends God. The spiritual benefit of abstinence is to free us from earthly distractions so that we can devote ourselves more fully to spiritual transcendence.

If you've had sex before marriage, don't worry! Hope is not lost; God is more than able to forgive you all of your sins, even the sin of having sex before marriage.

To all the single ladies and single mothers, I trust God will bring you a faithful and God-fearing spouse. You will not regret living your life God's way, for your body is a temple of God.

Lord, thank You for reminding me that you have bought me with a high price. Guide me on this journey - I hope and trust in You. Amen!

I choose to wait; true love awaits.
