Book Review: The World Needs a Father Author: Cassie Carstens

The most fundamental flaw in society is fatherlessness. It is time to delve into the roots of this problem in ourselves and in our communities. It is time to recognize the impact of father wounds in our own lives. Some of those wounds have created hell on earth, not heaven. It is time to seriously take up the responsibility of fatherhood so that the sins of our fathers will not continue to destroy God’s marvelous intention for our lives. It is the time to recognize how a world suffers when Father God is not taken seriously and when His ways are not transferred by His image bearers.

The World Needs A Father will be your guide to understand your role as a father so that the ripples can start flowing through your home, your community and eventually the world.

You will learn how a father:

• Establishes moral authority

• Confers identity

• Provides security

• Affirms potential.

This book is your invitation to join the thousands of other like-minded fathers who are shaking off the shackles of apathy and doing everything in their power to create spaces in this world that resonate with wholeness and joy, pockets of heaven across a darkened earth. It will challenge and encourage you to be the best father you can be within your context.

What drew you to read this book:

As a father of a two year old, being a father is a topic that naturally takes priority in my life. There is always so much more one can learn, and learning from those who have gone before you is invaluable. The subtitle of 'helping father's bring heaven home' also drew me in as I want my home to be a place where God dwells.

What impact did this book have on your life:

I must say that the author has much experience in this field, and he has researched broadly as well. This opened my eyes to many different areas of fatherhood that I previously did not know about. There are very practical handles that the author gives to help in one's journey as a father and building a family. It gives insight into the whole family dynamic, and mothers would also greatly benefit. I must add, however, that there is a strong worldly influence on certain aspects of the book, meaning that sometimes the author leans heavily on psychology rather than on God. The book made me realize that no matter how much information we are given, the Spirit always needs to be the One guiding us, even if it goes against what seems wise in the world's eyes.

In a paragraph, what is the main point of the book:

This book seeks to address the role of a father, as well as present the issue of fatherlessness and broken homes in society. The author's goal is to see families flourish and walk in the way that God has created. The book looks at deconstructive and constructive methods to achieve this, and supplements this with practical methods.

Who would benefit from reading this book:

Fathers and mothers who hope to build a strong family and are looking for some helpful tools in doing so.
