Book Review: Fruits of the Spirit Love, Patience and Kindness Author: Jenna Nell Northwood

Updated: Apr 13, 2023

The Fruits of the Spirit is a children’s book series based on the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22–23 in the Bible: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control”.

This series is made up of three books, each depicting three specific fruits of the Spirit. Each book contains a story, Bible story, Bible lesson, prayer, Bible verse and a practical application challenge for each specific fruit in the book. All the books are bold and bright.

In every story you will find Prickles the Pineapple, Miss Lemon the Lemon and the specific fruit for that story. In each story, the specific fruit for that part of the book teaches Prickles and Miss Lemon a character lesson in relation to their fruit of the spirit.

The Fruits of the Spirit series was written to teach, encourage and inspire little people about the qualities of God so that they can shine and refine these character traits throughout their lives and will help parents teach their children Biblical truths.

What drew you to read this book?:

My mom asked me to review for Kids of Reverence. I also want to learn about love, patience and kindness.

What do you like about the book?

I love the bright colours in the book especially my favourite colours. I also like that they used pictures especially fruit pictures. I LOVE fruit more than vegetables. We learnt the Bible verse at school and this book made it easy for me to understand. I know that I am going to be more loving, kinder and patient with my friends. I love that they gave the characters in the story fruit names. I enjoyed the Bible Story, Bible lesson, verse of each story, fruit challenge and prayer. My dad normally reads to me every night however this book made my mom read the stories to me. The words are kind of easy to read and to learn I love this book very much .

What is the book about?

The book is about friends who are learning to talk to each other nicely when they hurt each other. It also teaches us how to have the fruits of the Holy Spirit. We learn how to pray. It has a fruit challenge that I need to practice everyday.

Who should read the book?

Every girl and boy. Even parents who don't know about the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
