Book Review: From God, To Single Parents By Bongiwe Nyathi

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

“I created all things in the sky and on the earth. I created all the people –men and women for my glory, purpose and will. I commanded all my people to obey my commands and to multiply and fill the earth within the constraints of a holy marriage. But, many people turned against my teachings and sinned. My design, plan and purpose for family got disrupted. But, I am Who I am. I am the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob. I am the Father of my beloved Son Jesus, in whom I am well pleased. Whom I raised from the dead, now is seated on my right hand.

We give everlasting love, grace and forgiveness to all the people who turn to God, believe in Jesus and follow God’s truth, way and life.

I am concerned about an increasing number of single parents through out the earth. I see all the spoken and unspoken needs and desires of all single fathers and mothers, as well as the needs and desires of their children. I care about all your needs. I can supply all your needs. I have more than what all the single parents and the children need. I own everything. There’s nothing too hard for the Lord. I have a solution for all the visible and invisible issues, problems and situations that you are facing.

I am Who I am. I am your God. I made you. I am the Creator of your children. I am a covenant keeping God. The rainbow is a reminder of the covenant between me and you and every living thing. I know your heart and your children’s hearts, I read your mind and the minds of your children. I see your spirit and the spirit of your children. There is absolutely nothing you can hide from me. I hear what you say when you are alone. I see what you do when there is no one around you. I know every thought you think and every plan you make at night. Trust in me single parent. I formed you. I love you. I will forgive and guide you. I will heal and restore you. I will bless you. I will provide for you. I will protect you. I will give you everything you need. I will, if you believe in me and obey my teachings.”, says God.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

My Name is Ntombi my surname is Thamba I am a Gateway City Church member.

What drew you to read this book:

A friend of mine told me about the book and I was killed by curiosity and I wanted to know more about the book because it sounded interesting and inspirational .

What impact did this book have:

It had a positive impact in my life, in a way that I learned to forgive people who have hurt me in the past. I was reading about forgiveness in page 33-42 and I felt like God was speaking to me through this book...I paused and prayed an ongoing prayer and repeatedly saying I forgive each and everyone I was angry towards. I prayed for my family, siblings, friends and anyone I could remember that I never got a chance to forgive. What stood out the most for me was the fact that I changed and prayed for myself I needed also to forgive myself for doubting myself for being a good mother to my daughter that's when I realized I was angry at myself at some point in my life. If it wasn't for this book I wouldn't have learnt how to pray for forgiveness and forgive people that have hurt me in the past.

In a paragraph, what is the main point:

It teaches single parents to accept reality the way it is and empower yourself as a single parent and try to lean more and improve to be a better parent. And trust God to provide for your needs as the Bible says in the book of Philippians 4:19( NIV):19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Who would benefit from reading this book:

I believe this book will help every parent that will need motivation and empowerment to become better parents and to learn how to deal with reality, acceptance , forgiveness, healing, servings, new beginnings and lastly to accept that they are facing difficulties but not accept defeat.
